Harley's New
Beginnings
Dear Pet Pro Life,
I want to
thank you for finding me a new home. You may remember me as Hershey, but now
my name is Harley. My new Mom, Becky, thinks I'm the best dog—so well behaved.
I guess I'm pretty smart, 'cause I seem to learn very quickly. My previous owner had
given me some obedience training, so I understand a lot of commands, like sit and
stay, and I walk really well on a leash. I never leave the yard when I'm outside with
my Mom and Dad. I stay right by their side.
I never got enough attention from my previous owner,
and I developed the habit of chewing on my paws and pulling out the hair, and chewing my
nails too. The vet told my Mom and Dad that it could be
caused by separation anxiety. I think he's right. They're working to build up
my confidence, and that's helping me to do it less and less.
I love my
toys. I especially like ripping them apart. And I love to play fetch. At first
I didn't know what fetch was. I just liked to play chase. Now, though, I understand and I love to bring
the ball back.
I've got lots of dog friends that
I play with every chance I get. A neighbor has two labs. One of them is a
girl and I think she loves me. Our other neighbor has two girl dogs that come over as often as
their Mom lets them. A few times a month I get to play with two Golden
Retrievers. I really have lots of fun.
My Mom and Dad have made me king of the house.
They let me sleep on their bed with them every night. I know I'm not a lap dog,
but I love to crawl onto my Mom's or Dad's lap. I love both of them very much.
Your friend,
Harley
PS: I'll have my Mom send you a photo or two.
